Greenleaf Restaurant
In 1985 Greenleaf became the first restaurant to the Plaza to orient to the creek, building upper and lower rear decks and offering creek side dining.
What began as "Greenleaf Grocery
& Delicatessen" in 1985 has evolved into "The Greenleaf
Restaurant" Now celebrating 22 years of providing great food
to locals and visitors alike.
The Greenleaf is still owned and managed by Daniel Greenblatt. He and his phenomenal staff, continue to serve an incredible variety of freshly prepared foods for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
The
OddFellows Building
The Greenleaf Restaurant is located in the
Historic Oddfellows Building. The Ashland I.O.O.F. Building was begun in
1879 and completed in 1880.
It was built by 3 local merchants and the I.O.O.F at an initial cost of
$6,000 to house offices and Post Office on the first floor and the local
Lodge on the second floor.
This remarkable building was locally designed, built of locally quarried
clay brick and constructed by local bricklayers.
It is the oldest brick building retaining its original appearance in
Ashland, one of the two oldest commercial buildings in town and has
remained in constant use since built.
The rear of the building that is adjacent to Ashland Creek has changed
from a mill flume to a part of the park.
In 1976 the Ashland I.O.O.F. lodge joined the Jacksonville lodge and sold
the building. In 1979 the I.O.O.F Building was added to the National
Register of Historic Places.
The Oddfellows building has seen a number of changes during its long history. We at The Greenleaf are proud to be a part of Ashland's History and a local downtown institution.
