Ashland - A Review In The Daily Tidings

Greenleaf Celebrates 22 Years
At Greenleaf Restaurant (49 N. Main St., Ashland, Oregon)
they're celebrating their 22nd year in business. Owner Daniel
Greenblatt remembers the family's first time in Ashland. "
We arrived in the summer of 1980 in our van looking to connect
with a midwife, find a job, or a place to live, " he
said, " We found them all
and then some."
Daniel has enjoyed cooking all his life and still cooks all
meals for his family. He worked at a collective-managed restaurant
in Boulder, Colorado in the mid 1970s and was on the management
team of the C0-0p for a few years until he decided he wanted
to open a "little grocery-deli" in downtown Ashland.
"We found this place on the Plaza, and it was perfect,"
Daniel said. "We remodeled and built the decks in the
winter of 84-85, and opened the grocery and delicatessen in
April of 1985. Within a few years we morphed into the full-service
Greenleaf Restaurant."
Greenleaf is famous for it's extensive breakfast, lunch and
dinner menu, full of "fresh, healthful and delicious
fare for the whole family". There's something for every
taste at affordable prices.
"In addition to our extensive menu, we offer daily specials,
fresh fruit pies and delicious cakes, along with a full line
of espresso drinks, and w wide variety of Northwest beers
and wines," Daniel said. "Everything on our menu
is available to go, and we offer catering, picnics, and boxed
lunches for large and small groups."
During the spring, summer and fall months, the spacious deck
or walkway dining at Greenleaf is a great place to view Ashland
Creek. (Greenleaf was actually the first restaurant to offer
outdoor dining on Calle Guanajuato.)
Some of the more popular entrees at Greenleaf are the Grilled
Salmon Caesar Salad and the Fish & Chips. For breakfast,
you can taste the Ashlandistan Omelet and the Greek Scramble,
among others.
"I have hear form a number of people that we have the
best Eggs Benedict in town," Daniel said. "It's
only offered on weekends, though."
